About Conversation Week
WHEN? March 24-30, 2008
WHAT? Conversation Week 2008 is a celebration of the power of conversation to change the world. Hosts will convene face-to-face, small-group conversations with friends, neighbors, and strangers. The goal is to empower people worldwide to convene a meaningful, respectful discussion in their community.
Hosts will be trained to convene the conversation using the powerful yet simple Conversation Café process, and participants will experience rich, respectful conversation right in the town square.
WHERE? Conversation hosts are being sought all around the world.
WHO? Anyone with interest and capacity to organize, advertise, and host a Conversation Café can be a host. Anyone with interest and capacity to share and listen respectfully can be a participant.
HOW? Two dialogue organizations with big ideas join forces to form the Conversation Week steering committee: Conversation Café and Global MindShift. The core committee coordinates the logistical, training, technical, fundraising, and promotional aspects of Conversation Week.
- Empower people to host their own conversations
- Keep it simple
- Stay true to the Conversation Cafe process and agreements
- Be avenues to the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation for those interested in learning more
- Design with the future in mind, i.e. the next Conversation Week!
WHY? Good question. “Why not?” is one answer. Here are a few other ways to answer it.
